Our club is always very keen to welcome new members of all ability
levels and ages. However, because we are a competitive swimming club, we
do have minimum standards which prospective new swimmers must be able to
achieve. These are listed below for each of the squads in our club. If
your child is achieving at these levels, or you feel that they may be
close to achieving the required standard, click
HERE to complete an introduction form and submit it to the club. Someone from our new members team will normally contact you within the next 7 days to talk about your options and arrange for you to visit the club. Alternatively - simply come down to one of our training nights and speak to a member of our committee or a coach.
Minimum required standardsThere are 3 categories at which swimmers will be accepted and these are listed below. These generally align to the 3 squad levels. When filling in the Introduction form, please use these categories to define your child's current ability level :- New to competitive swimming :- A child who has not yet joined a swimming club but who has taken swimming lessons and attained level 12 or above and want to take their swimming to a competitive level. Children in this category should be under 13 years of age. Swimming club member : - A child who is a member of another swimming club who is looking to either move due to relocation or is looking for the challenge of a new club. This applies generally to swimmers of all ages, but those 12 years of age or over should have a minimum of 2 current county standard times. Sample times will be required, and a swimming trial will need to be taken. County, Regional or National standard :- A swimmer who is achieving at representative standard looking to move clubs. Sample times will be required and should normally have been achieved in licensed events. At least two personal best times should normally be Yorkshire Championship qualifying times - including one or more times at 100m or above.
