Land Training
In 2008, we had our first 'foray' into regular Land Training sessions. These are general fitness and 'preparation for swimming' sessions held out of the pool using gymnasium equipment.

Initially we ran a session for a small number of A squad swimmers at Featherstone Sports Centre on a wednesday evening after the normal swim training session. This was run by council staff but because of the room being used, there were limitations on numbers and on the equipment available.

In due course, this was supplemented and subsquently replaced by a 60 minute session open to all A squad swimmers, running at Knottingley Sports Centre 7.30-8.30pm on Monday evenings. This is led from within the club by Ian Smales

We are now also running a session for Junior B squad swimmers back at Featherstone on a Wednesday evening, 6.00-6.45pm.

In May 2010, we were able to introduce another session for A squad swimmers on Sunday mornings 10.00-12.00. This has been set up and planned by Ian Smales and Sarah Kinsey and will be led by a council funded instructor at Lightwaves leisure centre in the centre of Wakefield. This is a first step towards establishing a presence at the new Sun Lane pool when it is constructed.

There is a nominal fee payable on the night for each of these sessions - normal gym kit (and trainers etc) should be worn.
